I came down to earth with a bump in more ways than one yesterday. As the wheels of the aircraft hit the tarmac, I had gone from picking pink figs for breakfast in the Umbrian sunshine to landing at Stansted in the pouring rain, with the prospect of lugging my suitcase home on the train. And yet, having flown nervously out to Perugia airport, knowing not a soul around me, I was flying back a week later with three new friends on board, and had not long said farewell to others who were continuing their travels in Italy...

poolWe wanted to write more than is possible in a text to thank you for making it possible for us to stay at Casa Roberto.  We had a wonderful time. I don’t know where to start.  Your kitchen is a joy to cook in and we enjoyed the produce of the market in Umbertide – especially the fruit and veg stall in the corner and the seafood stall and eating outside on that enormous table with the view.  We spent many relaxing hours by and in the new pool – sharing it with the last of the swallows on the cloudier days and a couple of frogs and a lizard on the hot ones!  The labyrinth is the same shape as I remember making – I think the model is the one in Chartres Cathedral.  And saying and singing Compline in your little chapel – and an Iona Eucharist on our last day was very special.  Please thank both Stefano and Katuiscia who were very welcoming and helpful – unfortunately both had left for work before we left.  J&MP

What a beautiful and restful place. It has been a delight to spend 10 days here. We came very tired and it’s been good to relax and be renewed in such fantastic surroundings.  V&V

Casa RobertoWe are so glad we ‘found’ Umbrian Retreats in our google searching.  It has proved a wonderful base for exploring the glorious Umbrian hills, the hidden history and beauty of hilltop towns like Montone, Assisi and Gubbio.  L&M

It felt a real privilege to stay in this spacious apartment… Everything in the grounds has been so thoughtfully planned with quiet places for reflection.  J&S

What a joy to return after 6 years… we have enjoyed the new pool and are most impressed by Casa Roberto.  D&P

A holiday that meets all the family’s desires… the new pool is a real bonus as is the new barbeque.

SopraWe finished our holiday with a cooking class at an agritourismo near Assisi. The course was fantastic and was followed by a 7 course meal, all prepared by us!  A&D

It has been a tremendous week… sharing meals out of doors, swimming in and sunning ourselves around the pool… a time of great blessing.  CW

Thank you for sharing this special place… the restfulness, the beauty, the rhythm of life and the space.  God bless Casa Roberto, the borgo and all who dwell in her, no matter how often they come or how long they stay.  MP

This week has been beyond expectations.  Despite needing help, I have been able to keep up with everything – particularly with the special assistance of the buggy!  VR

I have thoroughly enjoyed my first holiday retreat here in these beautiful surroundings with a most friendly group… Happy memories of fig-picking, swimming, the swing seat, lots of laughter and singing.

What an amazing place this is… for a fabulous retreat and an unforgettable holiday. We’ll be back!
